Just In: Reps, ministers, security chiefs in closed-door session over kidnappings

Members of the House of Representatives are currently holding a closed-door meeting with the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan Ali and Minister of Interior, AbdulRahman Dambazau over the spate of kidnappings in the country.

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, Director General of the Department of State Security (DSS), Lawal Daura, and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj Gen Babagana Monguno are also in the meeting.

The lower chamber had invited the security chiefs to explain why there have been consistent cases of kidnappings, especially along the Abuja-Kaduna expressway.

Minority Whip, Yakubu Barde (PDP, Kaduna) while raising a motion had said the level of kidnappings in many parts of the country in recent time has reached an alarming level.

A member of the House from Kano State, Garba Umar Durbunde, was kidnapped.
