‘Kaduna power plant will revive textile industry’ – Fashola

The age-long problem of access to constant electricity that has crippled the once active textile industry in Kaduna will soon be over, as the Federal Government has affirmed its commitment to the completion of the Kaduna power project.

Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), who undertook working inspection of the project with Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State, said the workers of the industry, need to work harder.

He also assured them that issues of non-payment of invoices since 2013 will be solved with the 2016 budget.

Fashola further added that the budget includes payment of contractors who were already back on site.

He said with over 150 workers in the employment of companies handling the project, “these people will earn money that would enable them pay fees for their children and also provide food on their tables”.

On the request by the contractors for government’s intervention in the clearance of goods for the project, Fashola assured them that this administration would do everything possible to ensure that the 40 containers held up at the sea port are cleared.
