If there’s one thing the restrictions on movement as a result of the pandemic has created, its the drive for influencers and content creators to finally push through their doubts and reservations and expand their brands into the very scary territory of long form video content creation. There’s been a proliferation of Instagram Lives catering to every demographic, drawing hundreds of thousands viewers to see their favourite musicians battle over their discographies, watch new talent get discovered through talent shows and just answer questions through Q&A’s. Well, beauty and style influencer Kiitana (otherwise known as Kitan Akinniraye), is taking things a notch further and experimenting with a limited talk show style series she is debuting on her IGTV.
Kiitana is renowned in the beauty industry for her progressive styles, her mastery of kinky curls and her flawless makeup. She hasn’t really explored outside of the beauty influencer industry, but her new show on IGTV, ‘Love It or Leave It’, sees her leave that beauty bubble behind to take on the tricky but rewarding world of talk and relationships. Interpersonal relationships are a huge sell for influencers in Nigeria with brands like Joro Olumofin and Make It or Break it building fanbases that are hundreds of thousands of fans strong purely on relationship based content that is outrageous, unexpected yet somehow relatable. Kiitana’s show is a lot less tame, but from its speed dating segment, it will be no less entertaining.
