The much anticipated launch of ‘Superstar’, Wizkid’s debut album held yesterday, 12th June, at the Expo Hall of Eko Hotels and Suites. The venue was filled with a cache of trendy looking guests, young and old, set to have a great time.
Hosted by comedienne extraordinaire Basketmouth, the event kicked off with Wizkid performing crowd favourites “Holla at your boy”, “Dont dull” and “Tease me”. The frenzy – which can only be described as ‘Wizzy Fever’ – was unprecedented. Young girls screamed at the top of their lungs for the star, while the boys danced and sang along. There were also excellent performances from an impressive line up – Wande Coal, Banky W, D’Banj, Ice Prince, D Prince, M.I, Jesse Jags, Lynxx and 9ice.
The golden moment of the show was when Wizkid introduced the ‘love of his life’, his mother, on stage. He publicly appreciated her and his father and their love and support. As a parting gift, Wizkid, threw his jacket and bling to the screaming crowd, and the show ended with a performance from the all-star cast of ‘Lagos Party (Remix)’.
Wizkid’s elated fans headed for Jimmy’s Jump Off at the Get Arena, Lekki and afterwards for the Lagos Party at Rehab.
