Maka is headlining her very own intimate show at 16/16 this month

Maka
Every Nigerian singer on the alternative scene, there comes a point in their careers where they gain momentum and the necessary push to transition into the mainstream. For soul singer, Maka, that time seems to be now. After two years in the underground, Maka really transitioned in 2018. She’s spent the most part of the year playing shows at the American, Italian, French and Canadian consulates in Lagos, Nigeria and introducing her music to some of the most influential people on the continent.
Impressing an unyielding crowd at the main stage at Gidifest in April, she held the stage with her band (One Band Like That #OBLT).  Proving her ability to command a stage, Maka a live performer has opened shows for artists like Nigeria’s Bez and South African’s Mi Casa among others. Now that she has conquered high brow and millennial audiences, she’s asking all of us to prove our fealty by coming to her.
Maka just announced that she is taking her own show on the road, by announcing a bi-monthly pop up series. The series “Maka: After Dark” will feature guest appearances and her rocker band; One Band Like That #OBLT.
The Maiden Edition will kick off on the 29th of May at 16/16 in Victoria Island; where guests who pay online get free Heineken during the show. Maka will bring out R&B and soul singer; Ruby Gang alongside singer Eri Ife at her first stop, as each pop up show will get its own guest appearances.
Maka hopes to bring to Lagos some Jazz by taking the music directly to her fans and hopefully a fresh audience open to experiencing Maka in the most intimate way. The show will be hosted by Tosan Mac; who will navigate the audience through her journey as well as a Q&A for the long standing fans and new additions.
