Man who named his dog ‘Buhari’ to appear in court on Monday

The man who was arrested by the police in Ogun State for naming his dog ‘Buhari’, Joe Chinakwe will appear in a Magistrate court on Monday.

Chinakwe was arrested after his neighbour, reported him to the police saying his father’s name was Buhari.

He however claimed he named the dog after Buhari because he felt the President was strong and his dog exhibited strength.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State, Abimbola Oyeyemi said Chinakwe’s action could lead to ethnic crisis and public unrest if allowed.

“The man is here with us, he is at the Criminal Investigation Department. The charge will be prepared here and he will be arraigned at Sango Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

“He is going to court on Monday because what he did was highly provocative. It can cause ethnic and religious crisis.

“We have to be proactive, we cannot fold our arms and allow the state to be plunged into crisis.”
