Niger Delta elders pursuing selfish interest – MASSOB

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra has said some leaders of the Niger Delta were after their own interest and working to impoverish the region.

Solomon Chukwu, leader of the group who spoke to journalists in Owerri said were “sabotaging their people through their recent visit to Abuja for a 16-point agenda, including the granting of oil blocks.”

MASSOB said the elders instead of negotiating for freedom, were more concerned about oil blocks.

He also regarded the promise made by the Federal Government to clean up Ogoniland as a fraud.

MASSOB also said the government did not show any intention to restructure the Niger Delta when the economy was still robust but during recession.

“MASSOB is therefore telling the whole world that the leaders of South-East and South-South are selfish and therefore cannot lead us,” it said.
