Nigeria has launched the National Digital Alphanumeric Postcode System through the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), in a move aimed at improving how locations are identified across the country.
The system is expected to make it easier for businesses, emergency services, and government agencies to accurately locate individuals and communities. It could also support businesses seeking to reach customers beyond their immediate neighbourhoods.
The initiative forms part of wider efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s digital and economic infrastructure, supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ambition of building a $1 trillion economy.
Nigerians can find their postcode through the official postcode portal and are encouraged to begin using and sharing their codes. The public has also been invited to provide feedback on the system and how it could better serve individuals, businesses and communities.
