Nigeria moves up 3 places in latest FIFA rankings

Although the home-based Super Eagles recently got knocked out in the group stage of the 2016 African Nations Championship, Nigeria has surprisingly climbed up three spots to the 63rd place in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday.

The Super Eagles were ranked at number 66 in January and with the world football governing body considering the CHAN championship for their monthly rating, the Super Eagles moved up after gathering four points from three games played.

Nigeria is now the twelfth-ranked African side behind Cote d’Ivoire, Cape Verde, Algeria, Ghana, Senegal, Tunisia, Congo, Egypt, DR Congo, Guinea and Cameroon.

Belgium remains number one while Argentina is in second place, while reigning world champions Germany fell to fourth place.

Former world champions Spain remain number three while Euro 2016 hosts France moved up a place to the 24th spot.
