Super Eagles’ position unchanged in FIFA ranking

The Super Eagles stay put at number 66 in the latest Fifa rankings for the month of January.

The three-time African champions dropped from 59th in November to 66th in the December ranking and remained there in the latest rankings released by the World’s football governing body on Thursday, January 7.

With this, Sunday Oliseh’s men remain 14th in Africa behind Cote d’Ivoire, Algeria, Ghana, Cape Verde, Tunisia, Senegal, Congo, Guinea, Cameroon, Egypt, Congo DR, Uganda and Mali.

The Cote d’Ivoire national team are the best team on the continent with 950 points which put them in the 19th position in the world while Algeria are second in Africa and ranked 28th in the world.

Ghana stay third on the continent after amassing 766 points which places them in the 33rd spot in the world.

In the world ranking, Belgium continue to be number one, Argentina retain second spot, Spain in third, current world cup champion Germany hold the fourth spot, while Copa America winners Chile are fifth.
