This month of December, we bring to your attention movies and series that will be released in December, knowing that each other has the power to leave you shell-shocked and in awe of the Nollywood film industry.

  1. The Men’s Club (December 4)

The men return for a fifth season of their web series on Prime Video, directed by Tola Odunsi. The series will introduce four new cast members, Francis, Tokini, Kashope, and Obinna, who explore the world with ups and downs.

When Love Strikes depicts the life of a young footballer who finds himself at a crossroads, forced to choose between following his dreams of becoming a big football star and returning to college and getting a degree to support his family, the film stars Bimbo Akintola; Ademola Adedoyin, and Jimmie Akinsola and will be released on Prime Video on December 5.

Premiering on Showmax on December 12, “Princess on a Hill” will focus on the life of Zara Osara, a young, ambitious lady who suddenly finds herself at the peak of corporate power in her industry after winning a reality TV competition.

Funke Akindele is returning to Nigerian cinemas with a sequel to her “Jenifa” film franchise. This December, Funke Akindele, along with Nancy Isime, Stan Nze, Bisola Aiyeola, Patience Ozokwor, Chimezie Imo, Jackie Appiah, Folarin Falana, and Isaac Olayiwola (Layi Wasabi), will be gracing the cinemas on December 13.

“Seven Doors” focuses heavily on culture as Netflix seeks to promote Nigerian history intertwined with fictional drama. “Seven Doors” is set in the 18th and 19th centuries, displaying solid themes of love, tradition, betrayal, kinship, and power. The series sees Femi Adebayo play the role of Yoruba monarch with an Igbo wife (Chioma Akpotha) whose union is threatened by a Hausa investor who arrives with a scheme that leaves the kingdom’s fate hanging on a thin thread. The cast of “Seven Doors” includes Femi Adebayo, Chioma Akpotha, Adebayo Salami, Ronke Oshodi, Muyiwa Ademola, Jide Kosoko, Yinka Quadri, Gabriel Afolayan, Aisha Lawal, and more.

“Thin Line” sees Mercy Aigbe (Pastor Dammy) married to Uzor Arukwe  (Pastor Raymond). The couple, both religious leaders, see their lives turned upside down when Pastor Raymond suddenly finds himself interacting with a desperate sex worker. Things take a dark and unexpected turn when the sex worker is found dead, and all eyes and fingers point at Pastor Raymond, who may or may not be involved in her death. “Thin Line” stars Mercy Aigbe, Yvonne Jegede, The Cute Abiola, Uzor Arukwe, and more.

  1. Christmas in Lagos (December 20)

Coming to Prime Video, “Christmas in Lagos,” Fiyin, a lady healing from heartbreak during the festive season, realises that her long-time best friend, Elo, might be the one she was meant to be with. Still, things do not always happen as we want, and she soon discovers that her best friend wants to propose to his girlfriend. Actors in “Christmas in Lagos” are Rayxia Ojo, Waje, Wale Ojo, Richard Mofe Damijo, Shaffy Bello, Shalom Obiago, Ladipoe, Ayra Starr, Adekunle Gold, and Teniola Aladese.

Alakada: Bad and Boujee

Toyin Abraham is coming to the cinemas with a force of nostalgia and comedy as Alakada! Bad and Boujee, a sequel to the famous Alakada franchise, will return on December 20. The film will star many A-list faces in the entertainment industry, including Odunlade Adekola, Broda Shaggi, Bimbo Ademoye, Bimbo Akintola, and more.

Ay Makun is returning to the big screens this December 20, 2024, with “The Waiter” since his last film, “Bad Comments,” was released in 2021. “The Waiter” is an action-themed movie in which a waiter unexpectedly finds himself in the middle of a hotel invasion, and chaos ensues. The film features several Nollywood film stars like Deyemi Okanlawon, Brain Jotter, Regina Daniels, Toke Makinwa, William Uchemba, Shaffy Bello, and many more.

  1. One Night Guest ( December 25)

A Nigerian-Ghanaian film is coming to the cinemas on Christmas Day, December 25. The film tells the tale of playful rivalry and unity between two African countries. Directed by Peter Sedufia, the film boasts a stellar cast, including Yvonne Okoro, Majid Michel, Warri Pikin, Roselyn Ngissah, Ini Edo, Chidi Mokeme, James Gardiner, Lasisi Elenu, and Akah Nani.
