#NYSCAbuse: How the Federal Government proposes to fix this

Solomon Dalung YNaija

It’s a one-liner:

By throwing the blame at the feet of State governments.

We considered of bothering you with the long story of it but then we thought about how dazed we were before we recollected ourselves and chucked another one up to the what-did-we-even-expect board.

After over a week of these disheartening turn of events from an institution that ought to be neck-deep wrestling the youth from the wretched situation that demograph finds itself, the Federal Government finally makes some time to blink over the tragedies.

They have set up a condolence register at the NYSC headquarters in Abuja – because really what else do you do when three youngsters die?

Also, for what other reason should anybody wear a red beret out of their house?

So the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Solomon Dalung – do you believe it? – had to go sign this register as well as give some directives on behalf of the nation.

Here’s a summary of how that went down:

  • He signed it.
  • He condoled with all three families describing the deaths as “unpalatable”.
  • He lamented the inability of most orientation camps to cater to the needs of corps members.

-Obviously, at this point he makes it clear THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WILL NOT CONDONE THIS.

That’s it folks.

Oh! don’t think the scheme is going anywhere.
