The Twitter-verse was going crazy when someone put out a picture of Magic Johnson allegedly giving blood.  Above Magic’s head were the words, “Just got done done donating blood for charity.”

The reason this image is obviously disturbing is because Magic Johnson has had HIV for over 20 years.  But the image was credible to some, since there have been reports of cures for HIV in as many as 14 people.  Add this to the fact that some believe that Magic’s money gives him access to magic potions that haven’t been invented yet, and you’ve got an Internet rumor on your hands.

But sorry people, it’s all a hoax.  Magic Johnson didn’t give blood to anyone but his doctors, who are probably testing it regularly to make sure that he’s going to be alive.  The image circulating is one that was taken from the PBS documentary “Frontline.”

Maybe one day the Magic Johnsons of the world will be able to give blood, but that day won’t be coming anytime soon.
