Ofunne Azinge is a 28-year-old contemporary Nigerian-British painter and artist whose artistic pursuit merges painting, photography, and image transfer to explore cultural identity and the politics of representation.
Ofunne began her career in photography to process her upbringing, shaped by a diverse cultural identity, grief, and belonging, a process she also brought into her work as a painter. She is widely recognised for her unique hybrid visual style that merges large-scale figuration with personal and community photography archives.
She pursued her interests in art by getting a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from Leeds Arts University in 2021. She subsequently earned her MA in Painting from the Manchester School of Art in 2021.
Ofunne has been featured in several prestigious exhibitions, including the ‘Royal Academy Summer Exhibition,’ where Yinka Shonibare selected her as a Curator’s choice, and an exhibition at the Frieze Expo in Chicago.
