“One comment ruins your day” | Ed Sheeran quits Twitter over vile messages

Ed Sheeran has been forced to quit social networking service, Twitter due to vile comments made about him and his music.

The British singer-songwriter whose latest album,  ÷ (pronounced divide) has ruled charts worldwide and has sold over 8 million copies told The Sun, “I’ve actually come off Twitter completely. I can’t read it. I go on it and there’s nothing but people saying mean things. Twitter’s a platform for that.

He says he has decided to stay away from Twitter because the comments posted on it ruins his day and he can’t work out why people dislike him so much.

With over 19 million followers on the social network, Ed Sheeran will be keeping the page open but will share only photos uploaded via Instagram on it.

The Shape of You singer joins the list of artistes, Lena Dunham and Lily Allen, who have taken time off Twitter following abuse from trolls some of which are racially-inspired.
