At least two people have been killed and 24 others injured after automatic gunfire was heard at a country music festival in Las Vegas. Authorities have confirmed 12 people are in a critical condition.
Police told reporters ‘one suspect is down’.
BBC’s James Cook tweeted: “Police in Las Vegas say there are “numerous victims” in a shooting at an open-air country music concert and “we do have one suspect down”.

The shooting appeared to take place near the Route 91 Harvest Festival, adjacent to Mandalay Bay where a three -day country music concert that boasts of 30,000 attendees held over the weekend. The shots began as Jason Aldean, one of the final performers, was playing .
Witnesses told the Associated Press that they could see muzzle flashes coming from the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino’s high floors and described the sound of automatic gunfire.

Another witness, Ivetta Santana, told the Las Vegas Review – Journal that Aldean was rushed off stage when the shots rang out. It was a horror show, People were standing around, then they hit the floor.”

Police were deployed and have since cordoned off the area while flights from the city’s airport have been suspended and part of the strip closed off.
