Oshiomhole fires aide who called APC guber candidate ‘unsellable’

The Edo state Executive Director of Poverty Alleviation and Mobilisation, Evelyn Igbafe, has been sacked by Governor Adams Oshiomhole.

Igbafe’s termination was announced in a statement released on Friday, by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Peter Okhiria.

According to the statement, the ED was sacked over “dereliction of duty, incompetence, among others.”

The termination letter dated June 1, reads, “I write to inform you that the Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, has approved the termination of your appointment as Executive Director to the Governor on Poverty Alleviation and Mobilisation for dereliction of duty, incompetence and abdicating your responsibilities.”

“Consequently, you are to return all government property with you, including vehicles and identity card, to the Directorate of Administration, Governor’s Office immediately.”

Two days before her termination was announced, Igbafe vocally advocated for the cancellation of the All Progressives Congress governorship primaries in the interest of justice and fair play.

She went ahead to describe the winner of the June 18 primaries, Godwin Obaseki, as a disaster waiting to consume the party in the September 10 governorship election.

“If the party continues with the choice of Obaseki as its candidate, I pity the APC at the governorship poll because the defeat will be a landslide victory for the PDP because I know that the APC will fail with Obaseki.”

“The reason we are not accepting Obaseki is because the APC manipulated the primaries.”
