National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Professor Wale Oladipo, who obtained a court injunction barring the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission from arresting him, is yet to respond to the anti-graft agency’s invitation.
Oladipo is alleged to be involved in a deal currently being investigated by the EFCC.
The anti-graft agency is investigating an alleged N310 million purchase of exotic cars for top PDP leaders by the embattled oil baron, Jide Omokore.
A Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday, February 25 issued a restraining order barring the police, ICPC, EFCC or the Attorney-General of the Federation from arresting Oladipo.
Oladipo had requested the court to protect him upon getting information that the investigation of the purchased vehicles had led the EFCC to him.
The anti-graft agency is now attempting to upturn the injunction in court so that he can be brought in for questioning.
Meanwhile, PDP Deputy National Chairman Prince Uche Secondus, who is still in the custody of the EFCC, is also being interrogated in connection to the purchase of the said cars.
During the course of the investigation, it was also discovered that a former PDP governor as well as some top figures within the party are complicit in the deal and will soon be invited for questioning by the agency.
“The ongoing probe of the oil-receipts-vehicles-for-party deal has revealed that a former South-South governor and some chieftains of the PDP were involved. All these people will be invited for interrogation too.”
“The former governor used his influence to prevail on the businessman to “donate vehicles” to the PDP. So far, only a former Minister of Foreign Affairs has admitted receiving a vehicle as a gift from Secondus.”
“But some of those concerned have been desperate in looking for court injunctions to restrain the EFCC from either inviting or arresting them.”
