Poetry: I miss you

by Ogbuabo Emeka

This place has become an empty space
my willingness to fight an empty race
each day passes with you in my heart
for i keep wondering where you’ve been at
your sweet dreamy voice still rings in my ear
breaking my heart for i wish you were here
my heart begins to race each time i hear shuffled footsteps near my space
i still replay our good times together
cherishing those memories forever
your sweet perfumed body I perceive
each time i am alone
could this be reality playing a trick on me?!
Ants & cockroaches have become my closest companion
high hopes i have for our anticipated reunion
no more pearly eyes to look into!
Soft hair to run my hands through!!
Cute pink lips to kiss!!!
soft smooth skin to caress!!!!
Text messages to look forward to
phone calls to expect
where have all these days gone
for I long to bring them back
I guess this is it
this is my own way of saying
