Police recruitment: 705,352 people jostle for 10,000 jobs

The Police Service Commission on Tuesday, announced that it has received 705, 352 job applications from individuals seeking employment into the Nigeria Police Force.

It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had earlier approved the employment of 10,000 individuals to be drafted into the Nigerian Police Force so as to guarantee effective service delivery.

According to a statement signed by the Head, Press and Public Relations of the commission, Ikechukwu Ani, the Police advertised for 10,000 job openings but received more than 700,000 job applications as at 7:00 am on Tuesday.

The statement noted that 202, 427 persons applied for the position of Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), while 169,446 applied for the position of Cadet Inspector and 333,479 for the position of Constables.

The statement, however, disclosed that the commission will employ 500 cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), 500 Cadet Inspectors, 1,500 Specialist Officers and 7, 500 Constables.

The chairman of the commission, Mike Okiro, said the Police is committed to ensuring that the job recruitment exercise is transparent.
