Police arrest land grabbers for alleged murder

The Ogun State Police Command says its men have arrested two land grabbers suspected to have murdered one Taofeek Bakare in Sango Ota.

The spokesperson for the command, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspects – Sharafa Adeyemi and Sunday Jamiu – were arrested at about 3am on Wednesday after policemen from the Sango Area Command got information that the land grabbers were about to launch another attack on Ilogbo village and its environs.

He said, “The Area Commander, ACP Adegoke Fayode, led  his men to the place on the order of the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu,  and arrested Adeyemi (43) and Jamiu (41).

“Items recovered from them are one double-barrelled gun, one single-barrelled gun, 94 live cartridges and charms.”

Oyeyemi said the Commissioner of Police had ordered the transfer of the case to the command headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

The police spokesman said the CP had advised those with criminal tendencies to relocate from the state.

“Meanwhile, the police have launched a manhunt for the leader of the group, identified as Baale Sowole,” the PPRO added.
