Police sets up panel to investigate leaked Rivers rigging tape

The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris has set up a panel to investigate leaked audio which allegedly has the voice of Rivers governor, Nyesom Wike plotting to rig the state’s legislative rerun.

Police spokesperson, DCP Don Awunah in a statement on Saturday said the panel will also investigate 70 cases of electoral violence mentioned by the chairman of INEC, Mahmud Yakubu.

“The election observers, civil society groups, Human Rights watchers and other stakeholders are equally called upon to assist the team with valuable information they may have.”

The panel is expected to submit its findings within 30 days.
