Premium Times takes the #1 spot on our top 50 online media (web) countdown | The YNaija Ranking

Investigative journalism is gradually returning to the fore in the country, and Abuja-based internet newspaper, Premium Times is at the forefront of leading this charge. Alongside, New York-based SaharaReporters¸ Premium Times has taken it open itself to reveal atrocities in government, the military, and even in the civil service, as is the case of the Mainagate.

The media outfit led by Dapo Olorunpomi broke the news of the backdoor reinstatement of ex-pension boss, Abdulrasheed Maina, a fugitive into the civil service. Further investigations revealed that the plan was hatched by the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami and his counterpart in the Ministry of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau.

Vanguard newspaper, dropped few positions on the ranking, due to its knack for churning out ridiculous headlines. The Punch on its hand has decided that the word “breaking” has to appear before any and every news, no matter how irrelevant it may seem.
