President Buhari summons Kachikwu over fuel crisis

President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly requested the presence of his Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu to get a brief on the distribution of fuel across the country.

Before the invitation, Kachikwu was billed to have an interactive session with the media, a session which he has since shelved.

According to Channels Television, Kachikwu was sighted at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday, April 5 but the outcome of the meeting could not be determined.

However, the spokesperson of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Garbadeen Mohammed revealed that there is nothing strange in Kachikwu being present at the Villa as constant interaction is needed between him and the president.

While there is still widespread long winding queues, exorbitant and overly jacked up prices as well as black market traders – who are making high profits as a result of the scarcity of fuel – Nigerians are waiting on Kachikwu to fulfill his promise of ending the scarcity on Thursday, April 7.
