[The Presidential Blog] The Presidency has a message for you “based on logistics”

This is tiring.

It is one thing to go through your Twitter feed everyday hoping you won’t be confused by a phoney person or organisation trying to jump on a trend to promote a totally unrelated tweet.

For instance, why is Sterling Homes Lekki tweeting about a program called “Stop Paying Rent” with the #EdiZycsOnGQMagazine?

It is a whole different thing for the Digital Communications Office at the Presidency to do the same. And an entirely different matter altogether when that office does it completely worng. Yes, wrong is spelt worng just so you get a feel of how tiring the fact of this occurrence has made this writer.

So the Digital Communications office has this newsletter called the Aso Villa Newsletter you can subscribe to understand whatever stuff the Presidency has been up to. The latest edition covers everything from the FG’s version of improvement of quality of life in the NorthEast since 2015, that rice production has tripled in that time too, that on the culture scene, Nigeria is represented at the Venice Biennale this year for the first time ever, that Chibok Girls were released, that there’s some sort of incremental power plan, the Professor Osinbajo’s work on the Ease of Doing Business in Nigeria and much more.

But the content is not the problem. Nor is the newsletter a problem. Far from it. The problem is why jump on the Based on Logistics trend popularised by prize winner of #BBNaija winner, Efe in a bid to get more clicks?

And why do it on a day when the thing was not even trending?

What is based on logistics about this newsletter? Beyond the opening note that defines “logistics” using two dictionary meanings?

Last month, the presidential aide, Mallam Garba Shehu tried the same thing after the Big Brother Naija show came to an end and Efe was announced the winner, He posted a tweet about President Buhari’s determination to fighting corruption, restoring security and the economy apropos nothing except the fact that “Based on Logistics” was trending.

So what is this about even? Are we all just going to go on doing everything just for the clicks?
