[The Presidential Blog] President Buhari is absent at FEC meeting for the third week in a row

President Buhari is conspicuously absent from today’s Federal Executive Council.

Three weeks ago, the Minister of Information and Culture tried to explain away President Buhari’s absence at the weekly Federal Executive Meeting. He said the President was not at the meeting because the agenda of the meeting was light.

Last week, the meeting did not even hold. The Presidency said that happened because they could not hold the meeting when members of the council had not been given the memo for the meeting due to the Easter holidays.

Today, the meeting is being presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who has been handling the bulk of Presidential duties in person for – you guessed – about three weeks now.

It is being reported that the cabinet had awaited the president’s arrival until the State House Chief of Protocols suddenly stepped in at 11.00am and whispered to Osinbajo who carried on arried on with the 20 ministers who were present at the time.
