Wunmi Toriola’s directorial debut film “Queen Lateefah” has been ranked as the highest-grossing Nollywood film in 2024 so far, closing the month of October with ₦289 million.
Queen Lateefah is the actress’ debut role as a producer, and with the record the Nollywood film has broken, it is proven that she was made for the spotlight.
The movie, released on September 27, 2024, has surpassed all other grossing movies released prior to its cinema debut. The movie surpassed Kayode Kasum’s “Ajosepo” which held the record with ₦257 million.
“Queen Lateefah” depicts the story of a businesswoman desperate to rise above the social class. She creates a facade for herself, pretending to be someone she is not till a man from her past comes into her life, threatening to tear down her pseudo image.
Directed by Adeoluwa Owu, the highest-selling RomCom film of the year stars Wunmi Toriola, Kunle Remi, Femi Adebayo, Nancy Isime, Broda Shaggi, Lateef Adedimeji, KieKie, and more.
