Quit notice: 50 policemen ordered out of police barracks

The Nigeria Police is getting all the knocks at the moment with about 50 officers of the office getting a notice to vacate their residential quarters located at Oduduwa Crescent, Ikeja, Lagos.

According to reports, this order is from the state Police provost marshall who has directed the demolition of shanties, illegal structures, bukas, shops, business centres, drinking places among others.

The quit notice with ref. No. CH: 7970/LS/SPM/VOL.T dated 16 October, 2012 was signed by CSP Mohammed Kamal. The letter ordered the officers and their families up to 29 October 2012 to vacate or face forceful ejection.

According to the eviction letter, after the mentioned date, “Your continued stay will be therefore regarded illegal. Failure to comply with this directive will entail disciplinary action will be taken against you and forceful ejection. You are warned.”

The letter was served to all the occupants of the former state headquarters, Oduduwa also known as Whitehouse and Long block.

Already, a multi-purpose complex to serve as event centre, has been erected within the barracks while the adjoining space would be used as parking lot.
