Reactions as cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Anu of MedContour is arrested

Infamous surgeon, Dr. Anu Adepoju of MedContour is reported to have been arrested on Wednesday and is to be tried at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi on several criminal charges.

The surgeon had created a niche for herself as an acclaimed plastic surgeon with areas of specialisation in liposuctions, grafting and body augmentations. Botched surgical operations have since trailed the doctor as several women have recounted near-death experiences in her hands during or after surgical procedures.

Amongst the allegations against her, that has led to this court proceedings, is the death of one Mrs. Nneka Miriam Barbra Onwuziligbo due to a failed cosmetic surgery.

She is also charged with failure to comply with an earlier summon by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and their requests in an investigation. The case, ‘Federal Republic of Nigeria v. Dr. Adepoju Anuoluwapo & MedContour’ has the prosecution led by Babatunde Irukera, CEO of FCCPC.

Earlier in the year, it was reported that popular Twitter influencer, @omohteee12 had also gone under the knife in Dr. Anu’s hands and had barely escaped with her life.

Some Nigerians exclaimed in gratitude that justice has finally caught up with the surgeon and hoped that everyone who had been affected by her surgeries would finally get restitution.

Some highlighted that it could be possible Dr.  Anu would get away scot-free with these crimes if patients had signed any documents alleviating her of any responsibility.

A few Nigerians were distracted by the pictures that were published of the incident and paid particular attention to the surgeon’s ‘backside;’ stating that it is no wonder people paid for her services as she publicised it well using her body.

Many are expectant for more on the story as it continues to develop.
