Dangerous driving and over speeding were cited as part of the reason the road accident involving a Mitsubishi Bus and a trailer around Redemption Camp along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway killed eight people including a child on Sunday.

The only survivor was said to be receiving treatment at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, OOUTH, while the bodies of the four males and three females were put in the mortuary.

According to reports, the Sagamu Unit Commander of FRSC, Lasisi Ogundele, who confirmed the incident, said that the bus had plate number marked LAGOS GGE 540 XC while the other vehicle was marked YOBE XB 503 FKA.

“The Mitsubishi Bus, coming from Abeokuta with nine passengers, was on a very high-speed when it collided with the trailer from the rear.

“We understand that the trailer stopped abruptly as it was trying to make a u-turn on the highway and the commercial bus coming from the rear just collided with it,” said the unit commander, Ogundele.

Ogundele assured people that FRSC officials and the police from Mowe Division were available to ensure free flow of traffic.
