SEC staff protest against Oteh’s planned re-instatement

by Isi Esene

Apparently acting to pre-empt a planned re-instatement of Arunmah Oteh, staff of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Wednesday morning, held a protest against the suspended director general.

Many of the workers trooped out this morning with placards carrying different inscriptions like; ‘Say No to Oteh’s return’. They marched around the commission’s premises for about an hour before being prevailed upon by the acting director general, Ibrahim Bello, to halt the protest.

Union leaders are at the moment locked in a closed door meeting with the management, according to the Premium Times.

A team of security operatives from the State Security Service, who arrived the SEC premises at about 10am this morning in two operation vehicles, are still stationed at the entrances of the commission’s headquarters.

We had recently reported a general confusion occasioned by the Federal Government’s body language as regards the suspension and possible re-instatement of the embattled former DG. This confusion was further fueled when she was allowed to attend the Economic Management Meeting (EMT) with the acting DG also in attendance.

We certainly haven’t heard the last of this raging SEC saga.
