Senator Ben Murray Bruce (Bayelsa East) Thursday, expressed dismay at the dilapidated state of the international airport in Enugu and, the Port Harcourt airport.

He took to Twitter to express this displeasure, saying the condition of some sections of the airport is another reason the government should not be handling the operations of airports.

Hw wrote, “Senate Aviation Committee on oversight in Enugu airport. Disgraceful airport. Dirty toilets. Failed runway. Yet contractor paid in full.

“Runway approach lights not working. Crater on runway. Falling roof. Infrastructure is in a complete state of decay. DISGRACEFUL!

“No lounge. No resting place for pilots or crew. With over N100billion annual revenue from the aviation sector, I’m speechless!

“Currently, there are 28 mystery containers at the Enugu airport & no one knows what’s inside. The containers have been here since Jan 2014.”

“At the PortHarcourt Int. Airport. Construction of new terminal & GAT building ongoing. Expected completion is April ’18. Good work so far.

“Good work at the Int. wing of the PH airport. However, local wing is a DISGRACE. Rehabilitation has been on for years with nothing to show.

“If anyone has doubts in their minds, the PH airport is another proof why I say Government should have no business managing airports.”

He continued, “This is the international arrival section of the PortHarcourt international airport. Tents. SHAME! Even Sudan has a better airport.

“X-Ray machine at PortHarcourt International Airport DOWN. Not working. People r boarding flights without proper checks. Lives at risk daily!”
