Senior Republican Steve Scalise transferred out of Intensive Care Unit

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was transferred Thursday out of the intensive care unit at MedStar Washington Hospital Center following reports of “continued good progress” and is in fairly stable condition, according to Politico.

According to MedStar, Scalise was shot in his left hip, causing “significant damage” to his internal organs, bones and blood vessels.

Scalise, who has undergone multiple surgeries since he was shot June 14 during an attack on a Republican congressional baseball team practice, will continue “an extended period of healing and rehabilitation,” according to a statement from the hospital.
