There aren’t that many talk shows in Nigeria. This is somewhat counter intuitive considering how much Nigerian culture revolves around interpersonal relationships and mentorships. Every close acquaintance is quickly absorbed into the family and given an honorific title, respect is treasured and advice is dished in every possible situation. But shows that take all these ideals and compress them into an easy engaging format are few and far between. And few have managed to find the perfect mix of high profile guests and engaging storytelling quite like Seyi Banigbe’s Binging With Gamechangers.
Now in its third season, Binging with GameChangers is just as much about Seyi’s charismatic personality , her excellent taste in fashion and her own journey into media as it is about her distinguished guests. This balance is why the show has continued to garner followers and guests and why it is distinguished in a media space that doesn’t seem to acknowledge the redeeming power of talk.
Binging with Gamechangers is making a few big gambles in its third season. It is expanding its show schedule to 26 episodes, that will air for half the year, starting from July 18th 2020. There is a new set, the show is now taped with a live audience and there are games incorporated into the show format. The fact that Ramsey Nouah, who saw a bit of a reinvention through the Play Entertainment vehicle he directed Living In Bondage, Breaking Free is the first guest on the show tells you just how big the show is gambling this season. As is the roster of television stations that will be syndicating the show.
