For his annual, well-attended comedy extravaganza AY Live that took place on Easter Sunday, stand-up comedian AY Makun looked to Marvel’s Black Panther for inspiration. Introducing a comedy skit before the show proper to align with the show’s Black Panther theme, AY’s rendition had all the trappings of Nollywood, and parodied a scene in the blockbuster where Mbaku challenges T’Challa for the throne.
Afterwards, we see a sketchy fight scene with AY wearing full Black Panther gear. Costumes looked abysmal though, but that’s the point of this low-budget comedy piece. “I did not freeze,” AY says in T’Challa’s unmistakable African accent to an Okoye-looking character, and it got me laughing.
The skit also features appearances from Bryan Okwara and Alex Okubo.
