The Badchelors is here to feed your fix for Ngozi Nwosu & Lagos drama

Badchelors

Last week, Skinny Girl in Transit finally closed out its 6th season with a highly anticipated finale that drew in nearly 10,000 viewers to its premiere on Youtube. For context, the average large scale movie theater holds about 500 people per hall. Youtube has become the new streaming stage on which Nigerian show runners prove themselves, now that there is a vacuum for high octane, romance driven drama, the ‘Badchelors‘, which premiered on the 29th of April, is gunning to bridge that gap.

The first thing that really draws us to the show is that Ngozi Nwosu, the backbone of SGIThas a supporting role in the new show, and any opportunity to see film legends get more time on the small screen is welcome to us. Badchelors, which was written by Emmanuel Ogheiaga for FOJOTV and produced by Faith Ojo, explores the layers of drama that defines love and relationships in Lagos and the pressure for men to settle down and find the one. This is a familiar trope in a lot of television media in Nigeria and it will be interesting to see how FOJO TV interprets the ‘relationship leads to marriage trope’ and how much they can milk out of the idea.
