Why The Voice Nigeria was shot in South Africa

The quality displayed by The Voice Nigeria, in all ramifications, has been highly commended by fans and and critics of the show.

However, there has been questions directed towards the organizers, African Magic – a brand owned by M-Net – on why the reality music competition was shot in South Africa.

Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, M-Net Regional Director, West Africa appeared to have an answer to those questions while speaking at the winner’s press conference held on Wednesday, August 4 2016.

She explained the decision by Africa Magic to shoot the show in South Africa was solely based on ‘business reasons.’

She said, “The decision to shoot it in South Africa was based on business reasons which every business has to take. It was about commitment. It was about the best quality show in the most efficient manner to ensure that our sponsors and the coaches are happy.”

She however stressed that the focus should not be about where the show was shot but the success story it produced.

During the course of the media parley, it was revealed that the other seven contestants who made it to final will join A’rese the winner of the show on world-renowned label Universal music and will also be ‘signed on’ by Airtel.

With these latest announcements, The Voice Nigeria seems to have set a standard for any other talent hunt show in the country to follow.

See below pictures from the press conference which had Waje and Timi Dakolo – two of the four coaches on the show and also saw A’rese being presented her SUV worth seven million Naira alongside a ticket to an all-expense paid trip to Dubai.
