As the world continues to clamour for the release of over 200 schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram militants in Chibok, Borno, another 8 girls are said to have been kidnapped.

The girls, aged between 12 and 15, were reportedly taken yesterday from the village of Warabe, also in Borno.

A resident of the community, Lazarus Musa, said that armed men had invaded their village and opened fire.

He said:

“They were many, and all of them carried guns. They came in two vehicles painted in army colour. They started shooting in our village.

“Many people tried to run behind the mountain but when they heard gun shots, they came back,” “The Boko Haram men were entering houses, ordering people out of their houses.”

The terrorists were said to have loaded the kidnapped girls in trucks, like cows heading for the slaughter, along with food and livestock they stole from the villagers.

Despite the almost year long emergency rule declared in May 2013 by President Goodluck Jonathan in the North-East, the area has continued to witness mass abductions, murder and widespread violence.
