Thirteen people confirmed dead in Benin-Ore accident

Thirteen people have been confirmed dead in an accident, today, involving an IVECO Truck and a commuter bus on the Benin–Ore part of the Lagos-Benin expressway.

One passenger involved in the accident was said to be critically injured and receiving treatment at Shiloh Hospital at Ugbogui which is not far from the scene of the accident.

Federal Road Safety officials who are at the location to maintain order and pass traffic say a Toyota Hiace bus travelling with fifteen passengers and descending a steep slope collided headlong with the truck instantly killing many of the occupants.

The bus which was said to be driving against traffic, an dangerous act which was considered normal by many drivers who ply this route due to the condition of the road, had thirteen passengers killed instantly.

The bus is reported to be an Anambra State registered bus and all the victims of the accident were male.

The two vehicles collided headlong early this morning at 7:45am on kilometer 53 before Ohosun, near the boundary of Ondo and Edo state.
