This Should Concern You: Learn Screenwriting, Producing & Directing in 2 weeks

The Centre for Excellence in Film and Media Studies and Amaka Igwe Studios present a 2-week Screenwriting, Producing and Directing Workshop. The workshop will be an intensive, practical, hands-on experience with classes holding from Mondays to Fridays, starting on the 9th of May, 2011.

In the Screenwiriting series, some of the courses to be covered include: Who’s a Screenwriter? Script Appreciation, Finding the Story, Dialogue, Characterisation, Plot and Conflict and Understanding Genre. All those specializing in screenwriting will be expected to complete the screenplay for a short film during the workshop.

For Producing, some of the topics to be discussed include Who is a Producer?, Breaking down a script, Shooting on time and budget, Creative Producing, Fundraising, Sponsorship and Strategy.

In the Directing series, facilitators will cover the topics Who is a Director?, Shot by Shot, Casting  Grammar of Directing, Planning the Shoot, Blocking and Choreography, Camera Placement, Directing Talent and Shooting for Edit, among others. Those who enter for the directing series will be expected to shoot a short film.

The workshop will be run by a team of experienced screenwriters, producers and directors led by Amaka Igwe. It is open to only 25 applicants, and the course fee is N50, 000, covering training materials, tea/coffee break and lunch.
