PassNowNow, a social interaction and education focused platform which employs contemporary solutions and innovation to teach, engage, entertain and empower young people by using television, radio and the internet as channels of delivery, is organising a creative writing contest for secondary school students.
The contest is however open to only secondary school students in Lagos State. Interested students are expected to write an article on the topic, “The Impact of Social Media and Internet on Nigeria’s Education today; Positive or Negative?” and send in their entries between Tuesday, September 18th and Tuesday, 13th November, 2012, where the competition closes.
According to the organisers, the articles should be 750-word long. Also expected to be included with the article is the author’s name, date of birth, class, school, contact number of one parent and contact number of a teacher in author’s school.
The articles are expected to be sent via email to [email protected] on or before the stated deadline dates as entries received afterwards will not be considered for screening.
The PassNowNow Independence Day Creative Writing Competition is open to secondary school students in Lagos, irrespective of class or school. The organisers however warned that any entry ascertained to have false or misleading information will be disqualified immediately even if the author has reached the final stages of the competition.
Winners will be unveiled, presented with their prizes and decorated by top Nigerian dignitaries at the mega launch event of PassNowNow which comes up in Lagos this 2012.
The winner will get to hang out and be mentored by a celebrity or leader of his/her choice for one day. In addition, winner will get N100,000 tuition fee contribution, MTN Education Bundle (worth N93, 000 comprising of a Laptop, 3 months Internet subscription, encyclopedia and lots more.) Also, the winner will get a Blackberry and have his/her article published on the YOUTH SPEAK column on the back page of The Guardian Newspaper.
The first runner up will get N75,000 tuition fee contribution, MTN Education Bundle (worth N93,000 comprising of a Laptop, 3 months Internet subscription, Encyclopedia and lots more ), plus publication of article on the YOUTH SPEAK COLUMN on the back page of The Guardian Newspaper.
The third runner up will get N50,000 tuition fee contribution, a Blackberry Phone and publication of article on the YOUTH SPEAK COLUMN on the back page of The Guardian Newspaper.
There will also be consolation prizes for other contestants.
