There was a major riot over Atiku on Twitter yesterday, after Aisha Alhassan, Buhari’s Minister of Women’s Affairs, was outed for endorsing Atiku come 2019. Feyi Fawehinmi, Cheta Nwanze, Mark Essien and foremost voices on Political Twitter NG went head to head.
It was quite the drama.
We were well aware the conversation wasn’t going to cease, as we stated in our Noisemakers piece.
It didn’t.
Today, Chude Jideonwo takes the conversation deeper, and touches on the core.
Take it all in:
This is the truth we are uncomfortable often speaking about: Nigeria's political set isn't possessed of the smart or the perceptive.

That one sef dey. Maybe not Aunty Remi. But not being blinded by anger alone does have its benefits. So yes, you're on to something.

The real truth is: The so called leaders are not the problem but the blind Nigerian Electorates who have the power to change them but won't.

You know our pain
This is what makes it so hard to root for Nigeria as an entity. Those with proximity to power don't have the capacity necessary for growth. https://t.co/WqgJTktKQg

This is some deep literature, Chude.
When @Omojuwa asked yesterday, who we'd rather for 2019. I abruptly typed a name …

The guy can't even relate to my struggles, so why bother? Truth is, we clearly lack role models & Just like you, it gives me so much sadness

@aloted This sums up some of the thoughts I tried to convey at the last meeting.

I'm reading this thread and I feel deep sadness, such that brings one near the brink of hopelessness that is our leadership class
