Nigerians generally bemoan the lack of good content in today’s music. Popular music lyrics flow along the lines of “30 billion for the akant”; “Wo! ogbono feli feli (spanking hot), chicken peri peri; Iskaba iskelebete, iskoloboto (which means absolutely nothing at all); so it’s either musicians are hailing riches, women with hot bodies, or saying nothing that makes sense, in so far as the beat is mad.
Demola Olarewaju picks a bone with Small Doctor’s penalty and how it feeds into the Nigerian disdain for the poor.
See below:
“If you no get money, hide your face.”
I’ve been wishing a conscious artiste will come up with some good music to counter this definitive thought but nothing yet and I find myself saying that line over and over and hoping that somehow we can change minds on how we view poverty.

And having been poor isn’t necessarily the issue here but understanding poverty in a way that sometimes those who have lived it may not understand but certainly have a perspective on.
The Politics of our time must think of Politics for the sake of Restoring Dignity to the Poor.

You know, it's very sad the lack of good contents in our music today. I mean, how do you qualify one as superstar artiste? These music are just filled with beats and vile rhythms. If the listening audience likes it then that's it! Very sad.

Lol. What do I look like lapping up the words that come out of davido's mouth? Just dance and be going. If the enemy comes to steal from me, what will I tell it, if u no get money hide ur face? Or baby Pana?
