A man sitting outside a southern California store suffered serious burns from a Molotov cocktail over the weekend in a random attack that was caught on video.
Cops in Long Beach released the surveillance camera footage in hopes of identifying the suspect.
It happened Friday night outside the El Paisano Ranch Market, KNBC-TV reported.
The video shows the suspect, partially hidden from view by the store’s awning, lighting the explosive device and hurling it at the victim, who sits on the ground nearby.
The Molotov explodes in a huge fireball, just missing a mom with a baby in a stroller. The victim runs around the parking lot, engulfed in flames, until passersby stop to help him.
The victim, a man in his 50s, was hospitalized in serious condition with burns to his face, hands and lower body, cops said.
The attack is believed to be random and not gang-related.
It came a day after a homeless Virginia man was arrested for tossing a Molotov cocktail from the third floor of a mall into the basement food court. In that incident, the glass bottle shattered but didn’t ignite and no one was injured.
