In this little skit that will either make you laugh or offend you, comedian Eddie Griffin talks about why he doesn’t go to church.  In the video, Griffin says that Jesus never wrote a book in the bible, but the book is all about him.  He also makes some sneaky references to the sexual abuse that goes on in church and the fact that it seems that the pastor or someone else is always after your money.

Griffin hits a sticky point for a lot of people who are deeply serious about the black church.  Black women are usually stuck to their bibles and making jokes about church is a good way to get kicked out of any party.  But there are also stories about sexual abuse, hypocrisy and promiscuity that happens in church, with a lot of people feeling that church is simply ritual they should follow without any real meaning.

He even says “Put the book down or it will f*ck you up.”

Is he crazy or truthful?  It’s hard to tell.
