TICKER: Man plotted to kidnap foreign bride, torture, and poison her with lead

We’re not so sure where people go to find mail order brides, but maybe this story will make you reconsider if you think about becoming one.  A man was dumped by a Ukranian mail order bride. Apparently, the man was highly distraught after the incident and wanted to make sure the woman paid for her “mistake.”

So, the man allegedly arranged to have the woman kidnapped, shipped to his house in a crate and poisoned with lead. David Sartin fell in love with Elena Barykina after he connected with her on a dating site. He also sent her $50,000 to help with her financial troubles. Seems like a lot of mail order brides have financial problems these days.

Sartin was being the perfect gentleman before things went wrong, traveling to the Urkrain six times to visit his bride-to-be. They were planning to live near Houston after exchanging vows.  But the honeymoon came to an end when Sartin found out that his honey pie was still sleeping with her old boyfriend from Russia.

Sartin allegedly tried to pay $50,000 to have Barykina kidnapped and delivered to him.  He created a special room for her where he would “get a week out of her” before killing her.  He pleaded guilty last week to attempted kidnapping and brandishing a firearm.

How quickly the romance can end.
