Today’s Daily Brief: VP Sambo says FG is determined to transform Nigeria, Buhari meets campaign volunteers, Okowa gets more endorsements in Delta, and more

The Delta Political Vanguard for Okowa, Ughelli South Chapter, yesterday, in Okpare-Olomu, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, has declared its support for Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2015 general elections.

The group, made up of all PDP members also vowed to deliver all PDP candidates in the forth coming elections.

Dr. Amos Itihwe, Ughelli-South Coordinator, speaking on next year’s polls, said: “I want to thank you all for the roles you played in ensuring Okowa’s emergence. This is our project. Okowa is a detribalized Deltan and he has shown that in his dealings.

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gen.Muhammadu Buhari is in a meeting with volunteers for his campaign in Lagos.

He made the announcement via his twitter page, “I am in Lagos at the moment to meet a group of passionate young volunteers and get their input – GMB”.

National leader of APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Former FCT minister, Nasir El-Rufai, Rivers state governor and Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Organization, Rotimi Amaechi are in attendance.

The presidential flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, says he has received N54 million from Nigerians in support of his campaign for the 2015 elections.

Buhari, who disclosed this during a news conference in Abuja on Tuesday, added that his support groups had risen to 82 with membership in all regions of the country.

“So far, Nigerians have donated N54,415. 70 to support our campaign ahead of the 2015 presidential election and currently 82 support groups have been registered under the Buhari Support Organisations (BSO).

President Goodluck Jonathan said on Tuesday that his administration had managed the country’s economy to become the greatest in Africa and one of the largest in the world.

He said this in Port Harcourt at the inauguration of Enugu- Port Harcourt-Enugu intercity train service.

‘’We have managed the economy such that it has risen to be the greatest economy in Africa and one of the largest in the world,’’ he said.

Represented by his Vice, Mr Namadi Sambo, the president said his government had changed the course of history in the country.

The Federal Government said on Tuesday that it was determined to transform Nigeria through the implementation of people-oriented projects.
Vice President Namadi Sambo who made this remark while flagging off the Enugu-Port Harcourt-Enugu intercity train service at the railway terminus in Port Harcourt, said the President Goodluck Jonathan administration had given priority to infrastructural development.
Sambo explained that the current administration had kept faith with Nigerians through the fulfillment of its electoral promises.
He described the rail rehabilitation project as a demonstration of President Jonathan’s transformation agenda. 
Sambo pointed out that President Jonathan was interested in providing qualitative and transformational change and added that the rehabilitation of railway transport remained a landmark achievement of the current administration.
