ADC alleges plot to arrest Aregbesola before Osun election
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised concerns over an alleged plan to arrest its National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State.
In a statement, ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi said the party had received credible reports of a possible arrest. He warned that any attempt to detain Aregbesola on the eve of the election could be seen as an effort to stop him from coordinating the party’s campaign and election activities.
Abdullahi urged the Federal Government and security agencies to follow due process if they had legitimate reasons to invite Aregbesola. He also warned that any action that could create tension or disrupt the election would be closely watched by Nigerians.
Toyosi Adesanya accuses TAMPAN of discouraging support for Tope Osoba’s burial
Actress Toyosi Adesanya has criticised the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), accusing the group of discouraging support for the burial of her late colleague, Tope Osoba.
Speaking during a candlelight procession and artistes’ night held in Osoba’s honour, Adesanya disputed claims that the late actress was not a registered TAMPAN member. She insisted that Osoba belonged to the association’s Eti-Osa LGA chapter and described the claims as unfounded.
Adesanya also expressed disappointment that some industry practitioners continued to speak against Osoba after her death. She alleged that certain individuals urged others not to support the burial and claimed that TAMPAN’s Central Working Committee had reportedly taken a similar position.
Omotola reveals ₦103m cinema gross for ‘A Mother’s Love’ left producers with ₦22m
Nollywood actress and filmmaker Omotola Ekeinde has revealed that her movie, A Mother’s Love, grossed ₦103,094,633 during its cinema run, but only ₦22 million was left for the producers after various deductions.
Speaking in a video shared online, Omotola said the deductions included payments to exhibitors and distributors, print and advertising costs, VAT, entertainment tax, withholding tax and other expenses. She explained that the movie’s final cinema run ended on April 19 after a challenging but rewarding theatrical journey.
Omotola also revealed that the entire ₦22 million received by the producers was donated to Slum to School, an organisation supporting children from disadvantaged communities. She said she eventually withdrew the film from cinemas because of personal commitments that made it difficult for her to promote the movie and engage with audiences as expected.

Rare solar eclipse wows people across UK and Europe
Skywatchers across the UK and Europe have been treated to a spectacular solar eclipse, with stunning pictures and videos emerging as the celestial event reached its peak.
The Moon moved between the Earth and the Sun, creating the UK’s first near-total solar eclipse in more than 50 years. A total eclipse was also visible in parts of Europe, drawing large crowds in Spain and Portugal. In Cornwall, spectators at Land’s End described the experience as unforgettable, with some noticing a sudden drop in temperature as the sky darkened.
Other viewers across the UK also gathered to witness the rare event, describing it as an amazing phenomenon. The next solar eclipse visible from the UK is expected in August 2027.
