FG: It is a crime to release skits, films and music videos without NFVCB classification

The federal government has revealed that many skitmakers, filmmakers and possibly music artists have likely committed the offence of releasing their projects into the media without receiving an NFVCB classification.

According to the information pointed out, movie classification includes age rating, content advice to films and audiovisual content, which aids families in picking the right movies that are suitable for children to watch.

“The NFVCB board, therefore, wishes to state categorically that we are working with relevant security agencies to track the individuals and production companies involved and will stop at nothing to make sure they face the full wrath of the law.” the NFVCB Executive Board’s Director, Shuaibu Husseini warned.

Tinubu approves the upgrade of Ibadan Airport to international standards

Ibadan Airport into international standards

The President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved the rehabilitation of the Ibadan Airport.

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, announced this development in an interview where he stated that he had requested approval to upgrade the Ibadan Airport and having received a positive response from the President, the upgrade will begin in three weeks.

The rehabilitation will include the construction of a new terminal, runway and other advanced features to make it international standards.

FG and ASUU meet to resolve pending issues and prevent a strike

ASUU

The federal government and Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) members have met in a closed-door meeting to discuss how to best resolve the pending issues the Union has raised to prevent a strike.

Both parties have agreed to engage in a communication process that would result in a favourable solution and prevent the planned industrial strike from ASUU.

“There is a process we have started, and we are going to set deadlines, we are going to meet to look at what has been done on those issues, and we hope the process will continue,” the President of ASUU, Dr Emmanuel Osodeke, said.

Reports reveal the State House disbursed ₦244m on tyres in a day despite economic hardship

(NFVCB) Reports reveal the State House disbursed ₦244m on tyres in a day despite economic hardship

Reports from a portal that tracks government spending have shown that the State House in Abuja, under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, spent over ₦244 million on acquiring bulletproof tyres.

These payments were made on a day when Nigerians are knee-deep in economic hardship and inflation has increased the cost of living.

Attempts to receive a response from the presidency regarding the tyre expenditure were unsuccessful. Multiple calls to the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, went unanswered.

Governors meet to discuss the minimum wage and LG autonomy

Governors meet to discuss the minimum wage (NFVCB)

The Nigerian governors under the banner of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) have met once again to discuss the pressing issue of minimum wage and how to work around coming to a sustainable minimum wage.

The governors had recently expressed their opinions to the federal government, stating that paying ₦60,000 would be an impossible feat for them to maintain.

For the past few months, the NLC, TUC, FG and Tripartite Committee have been negotiating the minimum wage and proposing what the other can afford.

However, governors have urged the Tripartite Committee to choose a sustainable minimum wage which prevents them from spending their monthly federal allocations on salary payments alone.
