Trump vs WikiLeaks: A taste of his own medicine?

By Itunuoluwa Adebo

With the recent release of classified documents by WikiLeaks, President Donald Trump now has to face the same spy organization he once praised.

During the Presidential campaign, Trump cited several documents released by WikiLeaks about Hilary Clinton and the Democratic National Convention at his rallies, seemingly praising the organization.
Err, we even saw one where he expressed his love for WikiLeaks, saying,

“Now, this just came out. WikiLeaks! I love WikiLeaks”.

We are not making this up. See for yourself below :

That was in October, 2016. That was citizen Trump speaking. That was the Presidential Nominee addressing his base.

Now, he is Commander in Chief. He is beginning to face the realities of being the President of the most powerful nation in the world.

Interestingly, this release by WikiLeaks has come at a point  where the waters are quite murky for the President of the United States of America.

During the campaign, the leaks appeared to be in his favor, now that he is President Trump, he is becoming “extremely concerned” about them,  and the various allegations contained in the leaks, as White House Press Secretary expressed yesterday during the White House Press briefing.

We already know that US intelligence organizations have launched an investigation into the leaks to fish out the agents behind the leaks of the classified documents to WikiLeaks.

Wherever the investigations lead them, President Trump will have to admit that many are the threats against the ship he has to lead for the next four years.

Perhaps, a testament to the fact that being the Commander in Chief is not the easiest job in town.  We shall continue to observe.
